Old vinyl records....

Are they worth anything nowadays?
I have a few boxes stored in the loft with 7" and 12" singles and a few albums
I really haven't a clue what to do with them and I know I have "knights in white satin" on white vinyl dating back to the 70's, could this be worth anything?
Any advice please
Thank you

I posting a similar thread a few weeks ago and i'm afraid it's not good news.
Try doing an advanced search on ebay to search 'completed listings'. this will tell you if other people have sold the smae records and what price.
Someone told me to try old record shops but i've just given mine away to charityOfficial DFW nerd no 551 - proud to be dealing with my debts

I am no expert but my mates dad sells vinyl on a regular basis including what he would call a load of s*** & makes a tidy sum. I think he uses Record collector magazine. Also, could be worth looking on ebay or for local record fairs! Perhaps even ask at local music shop?!

It really depends what they are - the suggestion to do a search on current and completed items on eBay is a good one, as is just doing a google search for some of the titles to see if they're about for sale. Maybe see if your local library has the up-to-date Record Collector price guide and you can check prices in there, but really it depends if anyone wants them and what they're prepared to pay for them!
If you take them into a shop they may buy them as a lot but you probably won't get full value if you've got anything that's worth a bit.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
To be honest, you're best off finding out which of your mates like any of the bands whose LPs you've got and seeing if they want to buy them.0

I'm not sure if they are still going but maybe "record collector fairs", check your local paper,
also agree with gypsyroseloz about record collector magazine (is that still going?)also gives you names of local dealers, check what they will buy at and what they will sell at, might give you some ideas to put reserve prices on ebay
hope that helpsPROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBT NERD #869

Bin them , you will be wasting your time . At car boot sales you get people spending ages looking through the whole lot . But unless they are perfect they just walk away . And if they do find one they want ,your lucky if you get 50p.0

I've tried buying them at car boot sales for 50p to sell them on ebay. I've sold a few but have more left over! If you have anything on the unusual side it might be worth checking it out, even if you get £4-5 for it (but it probably would have to be quite unusual)
My brother flogged some of my dad's LPs and made about £80 as there was some harder to get hold of stuff in there, he had a book that you could look up te records in, it might be worth googling or amazoning it to find out the name and then seeing if your local library has a copy. All the dross he took to a charity shop and the stuff that the book said was worth a few quid he ebayed.£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)
