Savings in a care home

My grandmother is temporarily in a care home after a accident. It looks like she may be staying there on a permanent basis. How much money is she allowed in savings before social services take money from her pension to pay for her care. I thought £3000 but my mum is saying £6000.
Please help.

My mother is about to go in a care home and they told me she could keep £21,5000

Full payment of fees would be due if she has savings or capital over £21,500. Below £13,000 and she would not have to contribute. In between these amounts and it would be on a sliding scale, the contribution reducing as her savings drop.
