Can anyone help please income tax

New to forum can anyone help family member of mine who as a tax problem he changed his name by deed then had a partime job for 2 hours per day for large company and he is also is geting a benefit for looking after somone who is ill rents out a property for income he never changed is name on this income but as on is new job that he had for few years and give up late in 2006 as new name as after personal thought he kept is old name but never changed new name with company he had a job for he as been paying tax on property income and care allownce on his old name for good few years but tax office sent him forms to pay tax on his new name that he is not used but he never used that name for anything as he as he tax forms for self employment each year if he as tax to pay he will pay it but not sure how inform the tax office he as had received tax returns for 4 years can anyone help him with some advice be very greatfull

    He just needs to ring the tax office which has sent him the 4 year's returns and explain that he has already made returns under the other name and reference number.

  • Thank you for your reply fengirl he is very concerned that he be in deep trouble with the tax office but understands he may have to pay some Tax but also would like to sort this mess out do he need any forms e.c.t thank you

    I think the best thing he can do is to call in at the tax office and ask them to help him sort it out.

  • do anyone of you know someone who can help him in this matter as he is hopeless with these tax matters

  • Thank you for your help fengirl no he as not but i was thinking maybe someone that knows more about income tax and how to deal in this sort of thing even if he as to pay someone to sort this mess out for him

    HMRC are VERY helpful ~ there is no point at all in him paying someone else when he can do it himself.

    CAB is also a good piece of advice :grin:
