5 Years discharged and still no hope

Hi there,

this is getting beyond funny. My Hubby is a discharged Bankrupt since 5 Years and still cannot open a simple Bank account nor can he co sign our daughters Bank account. We got his Credit report which looks fine except
the mark from Abby. Well according to them they don't know anything. Funny that is. The manager of our Branch started to help but decided afterwards not to. We spoke nearly to everybody at Abby on the Phone but they haven't
got a clue and are not very helpful. No marks on the credit report .... nothing except Abby of course. Even the Insolvency ppl didn't understand and said it all should be fine according to their records.

We need help and that fast. Who can help us to sort this out??

    Hi Blueangel,

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but doesn't bankruptcy stay on your record for seven years or more? Surely you would have known this when you opted for bankruptcy?

The bankruptcy orders stay on your Credit Reference Files for 6 years from the date of the bankruptcy order.

If they have been discharged for 5 years that means the bankruptcy order is likely to be six years ago at least. Perhaps more if it fell under the old system where bankruptcy lasted 3 years rather than the 1 it does now.

Have you checked all 3 Credit Reference Agencies?

There is some info on how your files should have been updated correctly here:

    Hello

If you use the following link Basic Bank Accounts, and in the Basic bank accounts section click on publications it will provide you with a list of accounts and what benefits the account offers and what restrictions may stop you getting a account.
The Coop is normally a good bet.

    Hope this is useful

  • Thank you all.

We spoke to the Insolvency ppl and they said it all should be fine and clear, which if you look on the Credit report it is, except of Abby. It all came under the new ruling and it should be fine now. We found out yesterday that the Abby messed it up as by the look of it they left the current Account, from the time before the Bankruptcy, still active. *doh* The thing is just.....they are not willing to give us the information about the account, like account number ect. My hubby was on the phone for 4 hours yesterday and is still waiting for the branch to call to make an appointment to sort this out. The archive is held in the local Branch and they are as helpful as a bunch of chocolate fire guards. Now it is......go to the Branch and wait... and wait.....and wait.....oh...and file an official complaint.
