Dual-Layer DVD Rewriters

Anyone know which model and shop are cheapest for Dual-Layer writers?

I was interested in the Sony DRU-700A as Sony usually create a good product, but are there cheaper ones just as good.

Thanks for any help you can give.

    The NEC's are good. Remember though dual layer discs are around £5-6 each.
    https://www.cdfreaks.com (incl. forums) is an excellent source of info.

    Cheers ::)

    Yes, I noticed the price on discs, but I'm sure they will come down.

  • Not sure I'd recommend an NEC drive if you have a choice. My Dell laptop came with one, and although I upgraded the firmware to burn +/- and DL it has problems reading DVD-Rs it itself burned.

    NECs in general aren't the best disc readers out there.

    Would recommend looking out for Liteon or Pioneer drives in my opinion.

    True the NEC aren't the best readers, although the 3500A is supposed to be better.

    However, they have excellent write quality, consistently the best or one of the best.

    Know a few people with them who all report that they are very good with no problems.
