Council Tax refund?

Hi,
Our council is going through a period of industrial action. Which means bins aren't being emptied, roads not gritted, ferries not running etc.
Given that we're not getting services we've paid for, can we claim a rebate?
If our leccy goes off, telephones go out or water fails, we get compo for the inconvenience.
So should the local council be exempt from compensation for non provision of services we've paid for?

At the moment - your Council Tax covers a large range of services, that you may or may not use or receive, unfortunately its not possible to rebate on parts that you haven't received. Its the same for most people - ie I don't have children, yet part of Council Tax goes to education, but I still use the roads, expect the Police or Fire Brigade to come out etc etc
Although I have heard rumours in news recently that in future if Councils don't perform they will have to compensate in some way.2008 wins. DVD player together with Now quiz/Now 2008 DVDs,£25.00 Real People, pair of tickets for London Eye.0 -
The Councils Response Stinks If You Pardon The Punn, They Seem To Think They Can Take Our Money & Run & Hide When They Are Providing These Public Services That We All Pay For! Tell Them That You Are Not Paying Until They Sort Out The Problem. Remember The Problem Of Industrial Action Is The Local Councils To Resolve, Not Yours NB0
