    Hi, I was reading this thread and (gosh this sounds geeky) I thought I'd share some instructions I found on how to fold a fitted sheet! It's from marthastewart.com. I Don't know if cut and paste will work on this, but I'm going to try: There is a foolproof technique for folding a fitted sheet. These instructions are for a right-handed person; just reverse them if you're left-handed.1. Stand holding the sheet by the two adjacent corners of one of the shorter edges. With the sheet inside out, place one hand in each of these two corners.2. Bring your right hand to your left, and fold the corner in your right hand over the one in your left, enveloping it. Next, reach down and pick up the corner that is hanging in front; bring it up, and fold it over the two corners in your left hand; the corner that's showing will be inside out. 3. Bring the last corner up, and fold it over the others; with its right side showing, it should envelop the other three corners. 4. Lay the folded sheet on a flat surface and straighten it into the shape shown. 5. Fold the two edges in so all the elastic is hidden. 6. Fold the sheet into a rectangle. 7. Continue folding until the rectangle is the size you want it to be. If you look on the website you can see photos, or I have it saved as a word document so pm me with your e-mail address and I'll send it across. Very useful website!

  • A crumpled heap of sheets works well enough for me. They get 'uncrumpled' when you put them on the bed.

    One thing I cannot seem to iron properly is fitted sheets - can anyone advise?

    ok i haven't reached the bottom of your post but the reason you can't iron the fitted sheets is because YOU DON'T NEED TO IRON THEM!!!!!!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl:
    The elastic pulls them straight when they are put on the bed.
    Well that's my policy anyway!!!:confused::confused:
  • Read all the posts, and have to agree, fitted sheets are just not supposed to be ironed!
    I iron everything (i love ironing!) the only things that are not ironed in my house is underware, bath sheets and of course the said fitted sheets!, everything else is ironed within an inch of its life!

    How I love Martha Stewart stuff! I have a few of her books and a magazine I bought on holiday about 3 years ago...........I dream of the day I will have enough time in my life to follow all her advice!!!!:rotfl:

    Sounds like my OH had a similar day to Holeypockets. He has taken on lots of domestic duties while I have returned to study at Uni. I have to admit I miss the ironing, but this way we will pay off out debts faster!:D

    I love Martha too! You can still go on her website for free, and it lets you save all your favourite tips / recipes / crafts etc. My Valentine's card will be homemade for free from there this weekend :o

    As for the magazine - that's how I found out about her - you can buy it at Coscto! They import it on the US, and on the cover is says £4.95, but I've bought it monthly for 4 months now, and when they put it through the till everytime it has come up at £2.89. Now that's moneysaving! Especially if you stock up on Costco bulk buy bargains (washing powder etc) at the same time.
