Very interesting. I'd love to keep chickens but it's just not possible for us. I do have a veg and fruit patch though.
  • I had planned on keeping chicken this year, but have been advised by my local council that someone will complain & that I will be forced to get rid of them, so I have decided to abandon that idea & just concentrate on fruit & veg growing, no doubt I will still get complaints, but the council is less like to force me to stop!

 why on earth would anyone complain about that? lol.

Oh well....if they do...then just say you're doing your bit for global warming and getting ready for when we are "powering down" from Peak Oil production...and your town/city/etc will join the Transition Town Movement (if it hasnt already!). Rather a large number of towns/cities in Britain have just become Transition Towns or are en route to becoming one.

--- that should shut them up!

(ie part of the Transition Town message is that people are going to have start growing food everywhere they possibly can at some point over the next few years) - hence you are just getting in in advance doing your bit.
