dummy run to the court today

hi all
I have my court day Tuesday and like everyone here who hasnt done the deed yet, pretty worried about the day so I thought I would take myself off to the court this morning and get some idea for where I would be going etc
I am someone who worries about the unimportant things, will I get lost when I get there? what if there's no parking space? how long will the journey take? (have done it hundreds of times before mind
but its a 40 min+ drive so Ive been worried about arriving late)
the court at Bury St Edmunds looks like any other office block - been watching too many courtroom dramas I think as it wasnt what i had imagined at all - the entrances are all clearly marked and there's a big car park immediately behind. I know how long now to allow for the journey and feeling more comfortable now about these stupid things that have been adding to the build up of stress, I know that when I get inside, the court officers wont let me get lost, although I am sure I will keep them all very busy in THAT endeavour :rotfl:
has made me feel a lot better about the actual getting there and I would recommend it to anyone else feeling a little worried as I was
best wishes
Lesley

I totally agree with you, & I'd recommend that other people do the same.
If you've not been there before & are going by car, it's worth doing this a couple of days before to make you aware of any scheduled road works, the parking situation etc. If you're going by public transport, you can get an idea of travelling time, where to get off the bus etc. I did the same thing when I had to go to mine, & I felt a lot better for having a clearer idea of how long it would take to get there & what door to go through when I arrived. Well done on thinking ahead.

I did much the same, which certainly helped me.

My first reaction was "that's the court?", since it's a slightly tatty otherwise pretty anonymous looking bit of 70's office building/architecture. Not what you imagine really.
But knowing where to go certainly removed one worry on the actual day.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Good Luck for Monday0 -
Hi Lesley - glad your dummy run has helped.
If anyone is really worried they can ask to be shown round the courtrooms before they go for real. It can help some people to actually know what the judges chambers look like, where the court office is etc x x

That's a really good idea Lesley. Glad it's helped put your mind at rest a bit

We (luckily I suppose) won't have that problem, our court is in the city centre with a huge big f*ck off sign announcing "COVENTRY COUNTY COURT" on it. I shall be attempting to slip in, un-noticed, in trilby, dark glasses and long mac
