need help with mackenzie hall

my father had a letter in october 2007 asking for roughly £1200 for a debt that the company think is a credit card over 6yrs ago my dad has never had a credit card,i have wrote to them asking for a copy of the credit agreement for this alleged debt but heard nothing,now they are ringing saying they will take him to court if he doesn't pay up,can anyone offer any help as my dad is 61 and very worried.any ideas what i can put in a letter as they ignored the first one. can they take him to court if they are ignoring our letters disputing the debt?:confused: thanks in advance.

    Lots of information on this board about this shower. Search around and you'll find a list of organisations you can complain to about them. No they can't take court action without a signed agreement and they plainly haven't got one.

    Hi , they are renown for buying old debts ,and just hassle anyone they can find . Lots of people panic into paying , DO NOT PAY A PENNY .Write back telling them not to phone ,and calls you recieve will be noted and report for harassement . good luck
