My daughters new red jeans 96% cotton 4% Lycra dry clean only. How do you think these would cope in the washing machine?

I'd give them a hand wash. 4% lycra is really low for fashion garments and I cant understand why they are dry clean only unless they have fancy bits such as paint on art or adornments? If you hand wash a garment a few times it 'tempers' the garment and you MAY eventually get away with putting it in the washing machine.
source : I used to manage a ladies designer clothing shop and have personal experience of avoiding the drycleanersskint but in luv :kisses2:0 -
Thanks for the advice.
I know if I ruin them I will have to pay for another pair.
Might handwash not got any marks on just needs a gentle wash, I am expecting a lot of red to run!!2013

I'd do a colourfast test first to see if they run or not.
If they run a lot then I'd say handwash.
If they don't appear to run throw them in the washer but be careful about what goes in with them.
They should wash OK. Slow spin them though. Sometimes a fast spin leaves creases that are hard to iron out.
Use a cloth to iron them just in case they go shiny.
Sometimes it's the fabric handling properties that justify the dry clean label. They can be washed and ironed but with extra care.0 -
tell her if she wants them dry cleaned she'll have to pay for it herself, otherwise she'll have to risk the hand washWiggly:heartpulsFB0
