Squeaky - chives grow like weeds, as fast as you cut 'em they're right back, and they seed themselves too, so if they will make you feel posh
you go and treat yourself to a supermarket punnet and plant them out, you'll have them for life.
They are great in egg mayo butties too0 -
Yes A-T, I know.
That's why there were so many smilies tacked on to the end
I'm mentally planning how I'll revise the current planting sceme in my garden to plant a few veggies and salad bits to best effect. Chives will definitely be among them.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I buy fresh herbs from the supermarket when they are looking a bit wilted & the price is marked right down. Because they are in pots & obviously don't get watered on the supermarket shelf they are still alive, but pretty miserable looking. Buy them cheap, take them home & water them and they will soon cheer up and be so grateful to you that they will happily supply you with cheap herbs for months, sometimes years to come. My chives may look posh now, especially the garlic chives, but you should have seen them when they were down on their luck, sat on a shelf in Tesco with a little yellow label stuck on them, shaming them for all the world to see, as unwanted herbs!!!!!!0

Sorry - I hadn't tuned into irony yet this morning! chives TASTE posh anyway.
Your garden is just gorgeous, veggies and herbs are very OS but it would be a shame to lose any of the flowers, tough call.0 -
There are a couple of spots I can make over, and a few more where I can just mix things in. I don't really use the lawn as such - it's just there... so I'm considering putting some flower beds in it... Old Style, of course
The garden's not been so bright this year - but I really was pleased with the way everything drifted around the place - great sweeps of colour in what is actually a tiny cornerHi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there.
