Plastic bags for shaking salad - top gadget

Someone mentioned salad on here today and I want to mention one of my top bargain gadgets.
About 4 yrs ago (in a charity shop) I bought a packet of 3 or 4 poly bags to put shredded lettuce & things in. They were brand new, from America and I paid about 25p.
They are superb and still going strong. They are strongish plastic with a channel down one side and across the bottom and you do a windmill impression and all the water runs into the channel. You then pour that down the sink and have lovely clean, crisp lettuce.
Such a simple idea but SO practical. Take up less space than salad shakers and dead easy to keep clean in a drawer. I bought some similar ones on Ebay but not such good design or quality.

I shake my lettuce in a clean tea towel.... whirl it round my head...
soaks up all the liquid, does not bruise the lettuce.0 -
I've never progressed beyond the "wash and dry on a tea towel" school!Resolution:
Think twice before spending anything!0 -
Yeah ... my Mum often did it that way but I just hated the soggy tea towels!!
Trust me, these are WAY better and the lettuce is MUCH drier.0 -
I think I saw something very similar in Lakeland last week, but they were obviously way more expensive. I wonder if they'd last like yours.
http://www.lakeland.co.uk/product.aspx/!11606 think this is the link. I remember it said twirl them round. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Thanks for that Churchmouse - they are VERY similar - I don't mind paying that ... I'll order some.0

Sometimes i put the wet lettuce into one of those string bags that you buy satsumas or oranges in (ok for small amounts)..then i spin it round ..best to do this outside!
Works quite well..and not wet tea towels!0 -
