Cheapish DVD Player for my old man

Looking for a cheapish DVD player for my old man to go in his bedroom.
He was talking about a DVD recorder awhile ago but not sure how much these are nowadays and I've been a little put off by the one's knocking about for £69.99 that most people have complained about.
So can anyone recommend a cheap DVD Player
b) a Cheap DVD Recorded that actually works.
Cheers

I think this is the DVD player robnye was talking about on Amazon, though judging by the reviews it does seem pot luck on finding a working one.
The Daewoo DVD has received good reviews on Amazon as well.
Personally, I use the Yamada DVX-6700 for my cheap and cheerful option and has the ability of playing computer video files without the need to convert them to DVD!

I would go into any large, local supermarket and buy one for about £25.
That way there is no worry about returning if you have any problems

cheapest dvd player around is the free one from comet. Can't do links I'm afraid, but if you look in the freebies section, it tells you how to get a free one from comet - very nice they are too!0

they have one for £25 with no display but i would go for the 1002mk2, it looks a bit better, and hey, its less than £28.
asda are pretty good at returning stuff if you have a till receipt, certain other places would do well to learn from them.things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then

Not as cheap as the asda model but will play everything thrown at it.
