Selfexplanatory!
Need a cheapish printer for home. Have seen ludicrously cheap Epson printers for less than £30...what's the catch?
Anyone able to recommend anything? Or a particular supplier?

Mine is an all in one printer/scanner/copier - Hewlett Packard PSC 2355
It's very good. It was a gift however so I'm not too sure on price.
The printing is clear and quick, the scanning is fairly good and so is the copying.0 -

The catch is probably the price of the ink refills, if you go with genuine originals rather than cheapo copies that is.
What are you looking to do with it?0 -
Print off letters, the odd webpage, maps etc....0

I have always had HP's printers which have worked very well but I recently purchased an Epson RX425 all in one Printer, scanner, copier, fax with over 5000dpi. I paid about £89 from PC World online and picked it up from store. The printer is excellent for photo printing and the ink in cheaper than HP ink and comes in four colur replacement cartridges.
I would deffo recommend this printer.0 -
I've got the Epson Stylus C62, which is fine for everyday household stuff, although I use a separate photographic printer (the R300) for photos.
The C62 has now been superceded by the Stylus C66, or there's Stylus C46 if you want to spend a bit less.
Cheap compatible inks are readily available for both if you don't want to shell out for originals, although I tend to use originals for reliability/quality reasons myself.0 -
Ive just had the Canon IP1500, prints off excellent photos. Got it off Amazon for £40 (free delivery) but the good news is that the cartridges i bought, 5 black and 5 colour came to £17.96 delivered!0

I use Epson c42ux costs about £30 now but Computer Shopper
in the last few articles recommends the Canon Pixmar iP3000 about £73
they recon its cheap to run hope this is of some use
Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.0 -
can a photographic printer like the epson r300 do the same things as a normal c66 epson printer i.e it can print from the computer and not just photographs?
please help me to clarify this before i buy the wrong thing ?
thanks0 -

Yes, it can work from the computer just like any other printer - it connects via usb. It's probably not the best if you're doing mostly text, but should be ok. As far as ink is concerned it might be more cost-efficient to use something else, but that's just a guess...0
