charges for bills not paid using direct debit

they state from the start any payments other than D/D will encounter a charge.
if anyones wasting time and money its u... posting payments, stamp, time in post office, postal order fee, e.t.c if u can afford the postal order fee, then u can afford the BT fee.
just because someone tells you they are ... as martin would say, going to hit you in the face, doesnt mean that you have to sit there and let someone do it
and even on benefits, it is assumed, that i have to adhere to a substandard way of life and i do resent this, as i am careful and would like to contribute and not have to nit pick over something which others can possibly afford not to challenge
i donty like to pay by means which incurs a penalty, i cant always avoid using the post office and i certainly dont like or enjoy wasting my time or my money
i am ill and not likely to be well enough ever, to work, this does not mean that i do not deserve to eat, or have clothing on occasion, and i know damn fine that i have had to adhere to cost cutting as a means of survival
i live in a rural area, so transport for me personally is very important, i also need communication to be able to keep in touch with the wider world, and i have children i maintain contact with - still by using the old fashioned method of pen and paper, and of course, needing envelope and stamp (and whilst i have out of necessity fashioned envelopes out of other material when i have had to....i dont know as it is considered polite to receive a letter in an envelope which has had to be recycled, but never mind, hey ho !)
its still a point tho, that for those in receipt of benefits, that this is another form of TAX on users of a system
i make my own food, and my own clothes and cut corners and costs wherever i can it is still important for me to feel that i belong to the human race as i dont socialise, i pay all my bills, on time but there are occasions when an unknown variable comes up which wipes out budgeting
thank you for your replies - i just wanted to know if anyone thought it could be successfully challenged on the grounds of having limited budget/income0 -

i wanted to ask, if anyone had challenged the charge that is levied, if a bill is not paid by using direct debit
such as bt, sky, orange, to name just a few, put up to an additional £4 charge on top of the bill if you dont pay by direct debit
is there any way to challenge these additional charges, purely from the point of view that i am on benefits, and all these little charges, ie postal orders etc all add up
help please
Did you know that if you have a bank account (with a real bank not ex building society) then you can pay any bill that comes with a BGC slip at the bottom free of charge.
I know this does not alter the fact that BT'S charges is grossly unfair but at least you won't have to pay for a postal order.
If you don't have an account maybe its time to open one.0 -

thank you again, and yes chuckley, grr, some of us in the real world, just dont have the means to be able to live .. in the way you dictate, its for this purpose i posted, not because i am incompetent
and thank you ejones, i do have a basic bank account, i cant operate an account independently, for mental health reasons and when i held an account with one of the big 4 i kept receiving charges, which i have posted about, and which i am attending to
i am not able to deal with people in person and become confused and disorientated easily, but for this, i have a carer
and now that you all have my details and particulars, LOL, i show myself in my true colours as to why it is awkward for me to handle a bank account in person
but it doesnt allow or answer that the big companies want their extras, and i do see this as an unavoidable extra and i wondered if anyone had challenged this action and got anywhere with it before ??
thank you0
