Hi,
Hope you can help as I am completely confused.
I am a Higher Rate Tax Payer and need to know if I require to fill in a self assessment form. I receive small amount of interest in my bank account and received small dividends from a few shares that I have. All in all it does not amount to a great deal.
I got a letter from HMRC saying they need a tax return if I have annual income from savings or investments of £10k or more before tax. I have nothing like that.
Reading some posts though, I should do a form?
As I say - completely confused.
Any ideas?
Thanks in Advance.

You can write to your tax office with details of your small amount of investment income and they can include any deduction in your tax code. They would then send you a P810 (review form) every couple of years just to check that nothing had changed too much. The P810 is much more simple to complete than a tax return. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
