Help for Ma in Law

He. My first post on this board.
My mother in law who lives with us has a pension problem and I am posting this in the hope that some of the pension brains on here can provided a bit of guidance.
She has been widowed for many years and receives an occupation pension from her late husbands employer.
She has recently received a letter from the trustees saying that she has been ovepaid for the last two years (her 65th birthday.) Why this milestone is significant is beyond me as she started drawing her state pension at 60.
The trustees have immediately reduced her pension by £80 per month and want to further reduce her pension by another £80 per month until the overpayment has been recovered.
Fair enough they want the money back. But as you will appreciate it is a big enough shock to lose £80 without that figure doubling to £160.
We have written and asked that the money be recovered at £10 per month but the trustees don't like that idea one bit.
Anyone any ideas what the law says about this or what to do next.
thanks. MTW
