Having a bad day

Is this the right place to express my exasperation/despair about money, debt, jobs, renting etc.?
Put a post on the house board but think i'll move it over as its not just about housing.
Thanks Phirefly for the suggestion.

if you have a good serious rant here, peeps can sympathise and offer suggestions and advice. :p if it is a mild rant go and talk to those on the daily chat thread and they'll share a cup of tea and sympathise. But you're probably on the right board of it's lots of things getting you down and not one specific thing.

Pull up a chair and spill all. I can't guarantee getting on to answer (someone else will I'm sure) because I'm lurking from work ;)
  • I'll try and keep this short....

    Hi everyone
I have been lurking on here for ages. Wasn't sure where to put this as it covers lots of topics but here goes:

I have been struggling with money esp. for the last 12 months, when quit my (reasonably) well paid job to move cities to live with my lovely boyfriend. Have applied for loads of jobs and with agencies, money has been much reduced, but we have managed by both following MSE tips and not going out.

Anyway, we rent, we want to buy but just impossible cos of me not earning for one, and debts etc. Found a lovley house to rent, just about could afford it, had to stay at the out-laws for a month beforehand (which put loads of strain on our relationship, long story- but can't happen again - the staying at his parents). Contract due for renewal in March, just out of the blue the agency say the landlord wants to sell. AM so gutted, we are so tight for money we can't afford to find somewhere else and pay another month/6 weeks deposit as money is sooo tight at the moment as only one income. Also all the rents seem to have gone up since 12 months ago.

So I am feeling so upset, thought we had the house to rent for as long as we needed (thats what we were led to believe a year ago). AM claiming JSA but thats another story, hasn't come through, rang them today and cried down the phone (lost the plot), as they are now saying that the documentation i gave them, they have lost, am gonna lose my JSA, haven't even received a penny yet, and really need some income.

Just ranting really but feel so low. Totally lost it with the jsa people as they seem determined not to pay me, how long does it take? I mean, i have NO money coming in at all.

Job agencies are another issue, am registered with lots, one promised me a good temp job this week, wanted me to start wed. So I told the other agency who also offered me a temp job that i had accepted the other (as better pay and more likely to lead somewhere). Well, that fell through and am now faced with another week of not working, and stewing about what else isn't happening for me right now.
Today just feels like one of those days where i wish I could just hide from the world. The work situation has been bad for some time now, but the one thing to console me was that at least we knew where we lived, we were settled and had a nice place to rent. now thats gone i am finding it hard to find positives!

    Oh hell!

You're really going through it right now aren't you? No wonder you're feeling down.

These things will get sorted tho'. I'm sure you'll get a job soon. And have you registered with other agents to find another place to rent? You could check how long the current L/L will take to repay your deposit. Most tenants need their deposit back to put on a new place. make sure you leave it pristine so that no money will be deducted.

    Hi there
I know that this won't earn you loads but below is a list of survey sites, and cashback sites I use to earn a bit of money.

Secondly where abouts are you, and what is your field of work?

The final thing is that sometimes bare faced cheek will do it. So what about getting a letter printed up that says who you are, that you want a job etc. But rather than post it, take it into the shops and ask to see the manager. That way they can see you as well as have the letter. Alot of the shops in my area want staff, as they just can't seem to find people.

    good luck

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Well my OH has come home and we've had a chat about things.
He went into the lettings agents, who are really nice and apologetic about the suddeness of us having to move, as all involved thought the house was ours for as long as we needed. They are not very impressed with the landlord!
We're going to stick with them as they're good agents and the office isn't run by spiky-haired 18-year olds driving flash cars, like most of the lettings agents round here! They will help us find somewhere else. On the plus side, it gives us a chance to get a cheaper rent, as we really are on the edge financially at the moment. Just means we probably won't get such a nice place- have really got attached to the house, been renting for years and so sick of having to move every 12 months.

Couldn't see the sites on your post?
am registered with Quidco but can't see anything suitable as it seems to be money off goods, but as we're not buying anything at the moment other than food and petrol, I'm not sure I can use it much at the moment. Hopefully when get a job and spending more, I can use Quidco.
Am so very annoyed with the job agencies, as they offer me the opposite of what I asked for, and like I say, they often promise the earth then don't call back or give some excuse. I don't undertand it- surely the jobs are still there?

I'm in the London area- I know people will prob think well there's loads of jobs in London, but I'm just having bad luck, not getting the jobs, I have had tons of interviews, but they all say, we were impressed with you etc., but pipped to the post.
  • Feel a bit better than I did this afternoon (cried lots), but now have the worst headache. Have been ill all this week with a cracking headache, neck ache, feeling sick, just got rid of it this morning then i had the day from hell!
The stress is doing me in.
