Absolutely, hence the quest to try and keep it nice and simple and a reasonable cost.

Sethsgran thats a nice idea, but I'm useless at doing truffles, having tried that a long time ago! lol

In that case I'd think about tiny chocs with a printed label to be honest... all you have to do is print the labels, cut them out, and wrap them (I'd use double-sided sticky tapeto secure them.

  • Just looking on some other sites to try and help you out...

    Ive spotted these ideas...:j

*Tie three cinnamon sticks together with a piece of pretty ribbon

*Individual packets of hot chocolate/ latte/ cappuchino. Make some personalised labels for these on a computer.

*Personalised book marks made from thick card with a tassle attached. You could put a pic of the couple on this and the date of the wedding.

*Homemade fortune cookies( they had these at a wedding myself and OH attended last year) Make them yourself, I assume they are easy to do and write personalised fortunes/comments etc. ( At the wedding we went to there were around 50 guests and everyone got a fortune cookie and a small red organza bag with gold coins in it. In four of the cookies was a little note saying, you have won a box of chocs/bottle of wine. I though this was a really good idea.

*Wedding trivia quiz... print out loads of little quiz questions on any subject and put these in a little decorated box... if people are sitting on tables where they don`t know the other people on the table, this can help to break the ice.

*Tea lights/votives- wrap a small piece of ribbon around each tea light/votive in the wedding colour scheme.

Also this website has some lovely unique wedding favours on it... it may give you some ideas...

Good Luck Sal. If I find anything else Ill keep posting!

We gave out little tealight holders with a candle in them.

I bought the small tealight holders from ikea - at that time you bought 4 for £1 and then decorated them with glass pens - our wedding had a scottish theme so I had thistles. I then put in a small scented tealight - I got a huge bag from Lakeland at the time, then put them into a cellophane bag (again Lakeland) and tied it with a piece of ribbon and a little card that thanked people for coming to celebrate our day.

I think the cost came in about 30-40p per candle and I still see them in friends houses over 6 years down the line.

So little money - so much time
  • Hi, It's years since I have been to any weddings, was the reason the favours were left because they were the sugared almonds? I think the above idea is great, I was going to suggest the Ikea tealight holder @ 4 for 60p filled with mints or chocs or whatever loose sweets you can buy cheap in bulk or even go for a retro theme. Wrap in some cellophane and attach a little thankyou from the bride and groom.
    HTH FiFi :)

  • Those glass tea light holders are a great idea and you can pick them up really cheaply....plus if you put them in a cello bag and tie with ribbon they will look really professional.

    Hello everyone

    Thanks for the fantastic ideas!

Princesspoppypop, you've got some marvellous suggestions thankyou!

I love the candles idea, as there's some beautiful little bags on Ebay that I could put them into, wrapped with ribbon ec.

I also like the bookmarks idea with their photo on them - I did bookmarks like that for my daughter's leaving party at junior school and those looked really nice as I added some tassels.

    Thanks again!

  • Hi, this ebay seller makes Belgian Chocolate roses @ £7.40 inc. p & p for 10 x 2 but if you seperated them and wrapped half in your own cellophane it would only be 37p each plus the cost of some cellophane, ribbon and a message from the happy couple.

    Hi LJM

I was doing templates for bookmarks yesterday, as it happens and will use their photo on the top of it along with a little verse. Nice n easy! lol

I like the idea of the breast cancer pins too, as my friend has recently had a mastectomy and is always campaigning in some way!
