Ive just re-mortgages with some etc borrowing and the fees have been way over the top.
I can cancel the extra borrowing (money was put into my account yesterday)
But ive since found a better deal by another provider.
My question is can I call Natwest and state im not happy with there new product and i want to cancel and i presume move to there varible rate as my fixed agreement expired today.
Natwest say i cant but i didnt hang on the phone or talk to a manager as i thought i need to seek advice first
Just to clarifi documents have all gone back signed, a oversight on my side for not reading all to see the fees are nearly 4k with etc borrowing.

You can call them and ask but I don't rate your chances !
Where would we be if you could sign things and then renege on a contractural agreement ? In a right bl**dy state, that's where.
Does the sale of goods act apply to mortgages ? It's a rhetorical question as I don't know the answer but you could try returning it claiming it was "faulty".

Might have been worth shopping around prior to completion.0

Have you actually completed and the mortgage moved to the new deal or have you "merely" posted forms back to them? If the latter you could possibly fax a cancellation to them, that would get there before the forms, instructing them not to act on them.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. thanks for the imput , some more info..
1st things 1st i need to make sure i read these docs for this type of thing in full rather than checking quickly lessoned learnt....
But ive been talking to them today as ive cancelled the additional borrowing,
however it has come to lite now that the forms ive returned are for the additional borrowing and the mortage papers are on route,
The reason ive lost track on which is which, is due to having 2 lots of paper work sent to me as there were errors. The remortgage and the extra borrowing speak along the same lines so confusing.
Other reason for this is the local estate agent valuation was incorrect by15k so it meant the banks valuation and figures first worked out were invalid so i moved up a bracket of lending creating the extra costs.
Now it makes you wonder did the valuation come back lower just to drop me into the higher lending bracket and an extra fee, who knows,
However they have taken Feb mortgage payment on the new amount but that was due to a verbal agreement.
I will recieve my mortgage offer tomorrow or monday and I am hoping this is the paper work to sign and not a confirmation,. I guessing it is the paper work to sign as ive only signed the extra borrowing todate,
If this is the case i will delcine there offer,,Which isnt bad and go with another provider who i have had a good deal from.
I think the key today was second phone call i got through to someone who gave a dam and actually got somewhere. previous person couldnt wait to get rid of me, (must point out ive not lost my temper on the phone)
So faith restored in natwest as end result they have come back good and i can re take the extra borrowing loan, but reduce the amount to not occurr the high lending charge,
I will post back once ive sorted things out. but would advise that this paper work is layed out nicely so you dont really see clearly what you really need to see.
other thing that might help me if the mortgage contracts have been signed is they have my wifes name wrong on the forms her surname is her old so it might make it invalid. will see what happens
thanks again for your imput, sorry to harp on0
