Will my credit rating affect partner?

Hi All
I wondered if anybody had any ideas or experience of this?
Im on a DMP and have 3 defaults registered against me. My partner has asked me to take out a mortgage with her. they have perfect credit ratings. If we do manage to get a mortage together, what would the effects be on her credit rating? (i dont want to trash hers as well!)
Thanks

AFAIK, it will only affect her credit rating when u have joint finances, which I believe includes a mortgage.... U may also find it harder to get a mortgage jointly if u are on a DMP

As soon as you start applying for credit in joint names you will create a financial link and your credit history will affect each other.Disclaimer: Any spelling mistakes or incorrect grammar is purely coincidental and in no way reflects the intelligence of the author.0

my partner has three defaults and my credit rating is fine.
when we tried for a mortgage with my bank we got knocked back because of his credit history.
I showed my OH's credit report to an IFA and he said we wouldn't be able to get a mortgage off the 'high street' for four years!
This was two years ago and we haven't tried again as we are renting a house his parents have bought.
Sorry that's not good news but I guess every situation is different.
We have a joint bank account, joint bills etc but I have still managed to get 0 per cent credit card deals etc.DEBT FREE! Sep '08/£9,800 in Oct '06 :beer:0 -
