Cheap marg for creaming tatties?
Comments
-
I use Sainsburys cheapest butter.I save it for the mash and putting on potatoes (baked and boiled new tats).
Use whatever marge is on special offer for sarnies and toast.0 -
ancasta - I use sainsbury's basics butter too. It's great for baking with and adding a bit to a baked potato is yummy. 53p a 'pat' I think is what I pay.
I never use marg - yuck. I just don't like butter or marge on anything - they have to be hidden in the form of a cake or something!
I can't promise that all my replies will illicit this responser.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!

Butter, milk, cream, creamcheese melted in the microwave, them mashed up with the spuds, then sprinkle some grated parmesan/italian herb mix over the top. Not cheap, but who wants 'cheap' mash! (I only eat it about twice a year as it's far too 'moreish' as my nan would say and I'd be a big fat nelly if I ate this everyday.)
If you do want to use Marg, I would say Clover is probably the closest.0 -
I usually use mayonnaise in my mash rather than butter/marg, its lovely! I use Value mayo so works out cheap too. Put a splash of milk and some pepper in as well. HTH.0
