Could you do some glamour modelling ?
Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam
  • From my experience you are paying way over the odds even for a self cert. I’m self cert and my situation is a lot more complicated than most, as I have considerable amounts of borrowing against my name (for the business).
I was offered 5 years at 5.75% variable or 5 years at 6.55% fixed. When they looked at my file, they were a little shocked by the level of borrowing, but my broker talked them through everything in detail and it was accepted by both lenders we tried.
When you come to renew make sure you find a decent whole of market broker who will work with you for the best deal, rather than the best commission.
I know that doesn’t help you for the time being, but its good to hear you have a plan and are getting back on your feet. Good luck and I hope your back on track quickly.

ROFL well thanks hun you have certainly made me smile this morning.

PP, our mortgage broker is supposidly our friend!!!!!!!!!! he advised us on this mortgage which was a low start for one year which ended last Feb, he told us not to go for a fixed as the rate hadnt rose for years so went for variable, the trouble was it did rise within a couple months of us completing, after the low start first year ended we had had 3 rises (roughly ever 3 months) and out monthly payment was due to go up by a good couple hundred pounds, so we asked to tempory go onto interest only (really didnt want to do this) and of course more interest rate rises last year has put us now on a libor rate of 9.25%.

We have a very nice luxury car at present which we have made the decision to sell we will downgrade size making it more economical each month for us and also releasing some money to pay the arrears, my OP was because I was petrified of losing my home because of missing 1 months payment, so having the horrid comments about selling and not being able to afford my home were very upsetting. I am a soon to be 40yr old women with 3 kids an ex husband who left me with a lot of problems and I have managed to stay afloat with no missed payments until now, unfortunately for us our savings had just gone on our tax bill and accountant bill and then the van broke, what were we to do, no van no work definatley no mortgage payments.

Anyway thanks to all of you who were genuinely helpful and compasionate towards me, its is much appreciate.

    Cheers Michelle x

I really think you ought to dump Natwest, as one poster suggested. Good luck anyway.
  • Another update:

Spoke with mortgage lender yesterday they were really sorry that they tried to take not once but twice and have refunded the 2 £30 charges that they put onto the account, they have also asked for me to send copies of bank statement showing the two £38 bank charges and they will refund them. I also agreed to pay them £70 a month to clear the arrears with a view to us clearing the whole lot as soon as the car is sold. They could see on the screen that I had phoned mid Jan and that they agreed to freeze the payment at the end of Jan yet still tried to take as normal.

Feel so much better now. Thanks again x
