what happens when fixed rate ends

Hi, what happens when fixed rate ends. Albeit not until this time next year I would appreciate your help. Life as it ususally does has a way of testing you and the 4 years we have had the fixed rate have tested us beyond doubt and as a result our credit isn't the best. I am with Halifax and the mortgage bit seems to hold its own - need to clear this months shortfall of £200 though but I am beginning to have sleepless nights already about what happens next. I owe about £97,000 and have an £18,000 second loan against the house. Value is around £180,000 at the moment but are Halifax going to offer me a good deal or will I have to sub prime? Please help

How has a fixed rate mortage tested you 'beyond doubt'? You have benefitted from not suffering from the 5 rate increases last year.

  • Hi, sorry its a case of my grammar not being correct I was refering to personal circumstances 'testing us' not the fixed rate. The rate I paid was always higher than the interest rate even at its highest but because of an accident at work and having to make credit arrangements for other debt I wonder if this will have a knock on effect when our mortgage comes up for review.
