Go and speak to lidle with your mini statement showing the two transactions. It may take a while but they should be able to see the extra transaction when they balance the tills.
I know when my friend forgot to pick up her cash back from a supermarket, they just went through the till statements and saw there was a discrepancy so were able to make a payment back. It did take a few days though whilst they sorted it out.0 -
It's unlikely there is an 'extra' transaction.
It's reserved the funds twice - but they will only take it once. However, if nothing is done the extra 'reserved' sum will be unavailable to you until your Bank give up waiting for the non existent debit and 'un-reserve' the money. That normally takes around 7 working days.
Your Bank are correct there is nothing they can do, as your card was obviously presented right through to them for authorisation ... twice. The problem was either finger trouble at the check out or a problem between Lidl and their 'merchant acquirer' who collect the funds from them.
If you had the original till receipt .. it has an authorisation code and Lidl should be able to track it .... and then get their merchant acquirer to fully void the previous transaction for the same value. That would take the 'hold' off the extra funds.
Without the receipt (you really have to keep them - until the money is showing on your Bank statement!!) .... you can only try Lidl and see if they can find the transaction? Exact value / time / till .... would help?If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
you say you bought yesterday so has it actually gone out, or is it pending???
i have had this before with my abbey account. bought something from Gap which they apparently get 2 authorisations for, but actually on one goes out. didnt help that it was for £50 and i had 48 left and as this was holding on my account i couldnt actually take any money out.... i hate abbey!!! but i did get £30 compensation for the hassle.. my advice DEAL WITH CASH if you can

i hate paying with stuff on card cos for some reason the money always goes back into my account on a fri and the first few times i thought id got some spare cash and then withdrew it and got 25 od charge from bank for having no funds in!
But on the other hand i like to pay by card as i always find i spend less then having the cash in my purse so it helps me save a little! We Make A Living By What We Get. We Make A LIFE By What We GIVE:money:
