I had a different experience in my local Asda, Bournemouth.
I saw a giant teddy bear (for the gf of course) on a stand that said £9.99 so I took it to the counter with the rest of my shopping - when it scanned it went through at £24.99 and I queried it. The assistant went to find the shelf it was at and came back to say that the teddy was in the wrong place and it was misleading so i was charged £9.99.
Just thought I'd let you know

Double the difference can at times be hard work you should be aware, you will be given all sorts of excuses such as, it doesn't apply to electricals, linen, clothing, medicines or basically any item that you happen to have been overcharged on that occasion, that it doesn't apply to that store because it is a metro/extra/express etc, that you have left the store, that you haven't left the store, none of them true of course so stick to your guns. The double the difference policy is displayed in all Tesco's, usually on a large blue board at the cs desk, and at till points, in the smaller stores there will be signs on windows facing inwards, at till points and often on utility columns {pillars}.
Asda's policy of a £2 store gift card PER ITEM overcharged, will be changed to suit equally ie, only one gift card per day/visit/transaction, most often Asda staff will not offer the gift card and when you ask you will be told they don't know anything about it, it stopped ages ago, doesn't apply to reduced/sale goods, linen/electricals etc etc etc. Asda's policy is less widely publicised but at last look was displayed on their website, remember it is PER ITEM if you have purchased ten items whether they be the same or different and been overcharged you get £2 per.
BOTH policy's are directed by the resepective store's head office and are NOT optional but NATIONWIDE so stick to your guns, if you are obstructed contact the relevant head office and request details of the overcharging policy, but most importantly report your overcharges to trading standards, get it on record, overcharging is epidemic in our supermarkets, start checking your till receipts to see just how often you are overcharged, some supermarkets are worse than others, some make a concerted effort to eliminate overcharges but not many. If you don't check your receipts then you are already a victim.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
I have had numerous problems at my local Sainsbury's and have spotted over charges on my receipts worth about £30 in the last 6 months alone! When I have gone to Customer Service to get it sorted, I'm usually lucky to receive an apology, let alone anything else.
How many people leave and don't even notice they've been ripped off??!!

Yeah, Sainsburys don't give anything extra other than the difference back. I used to work on the customer services desk and we were never told to give anything extra other than that. Sometimes people got goodwill gift vouchers if they were returning something, that that was pretty rare too..0 -
Somerfield are terrible at over-charging. I am over-charged on almost every visit, usually on reduced items scanning at full price but not always. I am forever going back with receipts/packaging to get the money off my next shop. They give you the money back or off your shopping but nothing else.
Asda(Robroyston and The Forge Glasgow) dont usually offer the £2 card until I say "do you not still do the £2 card as well?" and then I get it. Silliest one in Asda- was overcharged on bread and went straight to customer services before I left and was told you only get the £2 if you have left the store and came back again. So I said OK give me the receipt and item and I will go out and come back in!!!! Needless to say I got the £2 card.
K.Money is only of any use if you can spend it!:cool:0 -
Forgot to mention the Sainsburys in Bothwell St Glasgow(a small town store) who dont give you a receipt unless you ask for it. The till doesnt seem to print it unless you pay by card. So I often cant work out if I have been overcharged or not. It seems a pain to have to keep asking for the receipt.Money is only of any use if you can spend it!:cool:0

Sainsburys seem to be pretty notorious for failing to update their tills on price cuts. I bought some tumblers yesterday - reduced to 88p for a pack of 4 on the shelf. Till rang them up at £2.49. Luckily I was keeping an eye out and noticed so the assistant called over a supervisor who didnt even bother to check the shelf. He knew straightaway they were meant to be 88p.
At least I didnt have to queue up at Customer services but even so, what is their problem?!Ellie

I've been looking out for this as I buy a fair few Asda 'Whoops' things, but they've always given me the full discount, or at least they have in about my last 10 visits.0

This has given me reason to renew my complain with tescos.
4 weeks ago (might of been 3) i went into the all singing all dancing tesco susperstore in batley west yorkshire. Whilst doing the shopping i fancied an mp3 player, so had a browse and they had clearly mispriced the sony mp3 player at £70 when it should of been £110.
To try and be honest and not sneeky, i went and asked the sales staff if that was the correct price for that item, they told me it was. So i said i would have it. So off they went to fetch it, brough it back, scanned it and hey presto it was £110. So instead of saying they had made a mistake, they decided to hope i was stupid and tried to claim it was a completely different product and the one i asked them about was a different product, i own a computer shop so im not idiot when it comes to electricals.
So i clearly asked if the one i asked for was definetely not in stock, they said it wasnt. So i tried to take it up with customers services, but as it was 8pm on an evening the staff downstairs recommended i contact via phone, email, snail mail.
So i contacted customer services, who clearly told me there was no price mis match policy via email and made no apology for their staff lieing to me or trying to take me for an idiot.
So i closed my account with them and now spend our families shopping at anyone but them.
So i'll send some more complaints i think enquiring to their policy on mis match pricing and on staff (3 in total, one customer service and 2 in store) blatantly lieing to customers.0
