Hi

Can I ask what the rough formula/rate is for working out the total deductions from your salary i.e tax, NI etc. ?

I rememner that you used to be able to deduct about 22 percent but I appreciate it has gone up since I last did it.

Hiya, check out the HMRC website, as it will depend on whether you need 2006/07 or 2007/08. Assuming you're a basic rate taxpayer (22%), the deduction will be this, plus NI deductions (usually 11% unless your employer has opted out of the second state pension, then it's 9.4%), so if you earn an extra £100 you will receive £67.

If you are talking about your total income, I'd use a salary calculator, because it is a bit more complicated if you are taking into account the personal allowance and the 10% tax band as well.
