I wondered how are these compared to blu ray dvds, who is winning the battle?would not want to get one and find out soon after that they are fading away and then later not any good for anything.
The other issue i have are hd dvd films all multi region, say i moved to australia which i will be doing sometime in the future,if i have uk films for this and i buy oz films in hd also will they work in this machine and do these play normal dvd films also.
And same goes for normal dvds,i take it this item would not play australia normal dvd films if i got this item?Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -

I think there's a form you fill in to get the films - so I don't think it matters where you get the drive from...
edit: the form is here:

blue ray is edging ahead more big companies have decided to go with blue ray instead of HD,
BLU-RAY:
Warner Bros.
Disney (Buenavista)
20th Century Fox
Lionsgate
Sony
MGM
New Line Cinema
HD-DVD:
Paramount
Dreamworks
Universal
kinda sucks, i have a xbox 360, prob end up buying a ps3 just for blu ray0 -
Blu-Ray is winning the battle mainly because of its better encryption/protection, remember most of the studios are only out to protect their revenues so you'll be mugged into buying most of your collection again at full price but myeh will only take time...
Personally I'm going to buy one of these, hook it up to the pc and enjoy some cheap HD-DVD's0 -
