i got a letter this morning out of the blue saying i owe £420 so the first thing i do is call the company and told them i'm sorry i want to pay it off.
they thought this was great and said have you got a bank card to this i explained i want to pay it off but can't do it all at once so would like to set up a payement plan there answer was no.
he said they could not do this as the account had been passed onto them when i stopped paying it last feb i explained again i was sorry and i hid away from the money i ownd last year and i total forgot about this one when going through my debts the other month.
he asked me if i had tried putting money aside to pay this one off i said no and then he said i can not do a payement plan as i have made no effort to pay it off. i answered this by explaining in my eyes i think i have as i have phoned them up as soon as i got the letter this morning and he said that does not matter to which i told him i think it is as i know alot of people would of got this letter and put it stright in the bin.
after 10 more mins on the phone he decides that i can have a 3 month trial and pay £30 a month and see how it goes. great i thought i ask if this can start on oh's pay day to which he says no.
i'm just so mad as i thought i was doing right by ringing them up as soon as i got the letter but i feel worse for doing it. hope it all makes sense as wrote this really fast and i'm still in a mood

I think that all of the debt collectors that I had to deal with were like in the beginning and remained like that in fact until they had received their very last payment. Just do not listen to much to them and do not let them get you down because you can only give them what you have when you actually have it and not before no matter what they might threaten but it is always worth remembering that at the end of the day they are only people like you and me and have plenty of problems of their own to deal with although I am not sure that many of them would realise that bad manners are actually one of them. :rolleyes:Debt August 2007 - £38,204.58 - Completely Debt Free - May 2008 - Now Proudly Saving.DFW Nerd Number 684 - Proud To Have Dealt With My Debts:heartpuls Very Proud Aunty Ciara :heartpuls0

To be honest I really am not sure if it will work but it is at least worth a try because what have you got to lose because either way that is probably going to have to be the day that they get their money whether they like it or not. I was not very good at dealing with the debt collectors and was in fact a total coward and had my sister speaking to them for me so she probably just charmed/terrorised them around to her way of thinking about how and when and how much they would be getting paid but I know that she she totally stood my ground for me and ended up with them agreeing to her proposals for repayment.Debt August 2007 - £38,204.58 - Completely Debt Free - May 2008 - Now Proudly Saving.DFW Nerd Number 684 - Proud To Have Dealt With My Debts:heartpuls Very Proud Aunty Ciara :heartpuls0

There is little they can do if you wait till OH's payday & send some money. They wont send it back!
They are trying to get as much money off you as they can quickly. Stick to your guns & make them a reasonable offer. Tell them that is all they are getting.
Dont sign any letters to them, just print your name.Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0
