Hi I am a long time lurker here and would first like to thank you all for the great advice that you have given me without even realising it. I am currently in my second month of a DMP and today recieved a phone call from RBS which has left me a bit puzzled as to how to procede. I have two accounts with RBS that are part of my DMP, a credit card and a loan. I have applied to reclaim my PPI on both of them as when I was sold the PPI RBs knew that I was about to be discharged from the forces with epilepsy and therefore could never make a claim on it.
I recieved the standard letter attempting to fob me off with regards to the credit card, however my attempts to reclaim PPI on the loan has only just got their attention.
I recieved a call today from a very well spoken and confident sounding lady asking for information regarding the loan and the previous times that it had been refinanced. At that time I couldn't talk as I didn't have time (I work as a careers consultant and was about to teach CV writing to a group of youngsters). Later in the day I recieved a second call, this time from a very nervouse sounding man (well actually he sounded more like a teenager) He asked if I could send him copies all of the paperwork for the loan and all of the times that it had been refinanced as without it they couldn't progress the investigation into if I was missold the PPI. I replied that surely they had copies of all of the paperwork themselves and surely they wasn't relying on me to keep their records for them. At this there was a long pause and then he said "Well to be honest, we can't find any paperwork regarding the loans. We have contacted your branch but they dont have it and we can not recover it from our own systems" He could tell me the account numbers of the loan and its previous incarnations prior to each refinance but he din't have any finance agreements or PPI agreements at all.
The man said that he definately could not procede with any investigation into PPI without this and so it was important that I sent any copies that I had to them.
I am not even sure I still have the paperwork for all of the loans but presuming that I do should I send them ?
Part of me is saying that because I am still in the early stages of a DMP, RBS could be trying to recover signatures and paperwork etc that they have lost in order to serve a CCJ on me. Therefore I am reluctant to send any copies that I have to them. On the other hand they could be genuine and if I don't send the paperwork then I could miss out on reclaiming my PPI.
What do you more experienced hands feel that I should do ? any advice would be appreciated

I don't know nuttin about loans but... if they're saying they don't have a copy of the credit agreement, can they even make you pay the loan itself?
OTOH my cynical reptile mind says, if you make this observation to them, they will miraculously locate all paperwork immediately...0 -
Think I would be apprehensive sending them anything - if they have no records as the young man told you, can they even prove you have an existing loan, let alone a mis-sold PPI claim. No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.
