Mortgage advisor missed appointment

Hi all,
I called a FA and run through my requirements with them, and I was advised that the info would be passed to an advisor who would be in touch, later that day he was and made an appointment to come and visit with his proposals.
The appointment was scheduled for 4 days later.
On the morning of the appointment I had an email confirming the time etc. Appointment time came and went and no one arrived, I called their office and hour or so later and a suprised receptionist said she would find out why and let me know in 5 minutes. No call returned and here we are another 3 days later and i have not heard a bean from the FA or the receptionist.
Now my question is, as a self employed contractor is it fair of me to invoice the FA's company for the money I would have earned that day if I had not taken time out to see the FA ?
Thanks for any input,
Bo

You can try but I dont see why they would pay though. To be honest I would only miss an appointment if something very important happended or went very wrong! Even then the client would be told and in the know.
On the flip side over the years I have been let down and had my time wasted and cases not gone through because people just change minds, but I cant charge them for my time.Although I agree with what you are saying!0 -
I doubt you will get anywhere with that, totally bad service, might be better to take your business elsewhere...
that said the amount of appointments my b/f turns up to and no one is there or on there way out saying "oh we forgot" this iswhen he has confirmed by telephone only hours before
so people on both sides of it can be useless and rude...
and that is basically what this is rude to have not returned your call
I would call back again and speak to somone other than the receptionist, as in my experience - within the company I work for, lots of messages are never relayed.
Do you have a mobile number of the FA that was coming out to you?2007 £1749
2008 £291.99
2009 JanMasscara £7.00 Feb megcabot books x 2 £20 XFactor tkts x 2 £58.00 (couldn't go though as they only phoned on day :-( ) foundation £7.99
total so far for 09 £92.990 -
Simple solution:
Find a new financial adviser.0 -
No harm in trying0

Its bad service (although the adviser could be dead or in hospital and not have a lot of chance to phone you
).
You have suffered no financial loss so there is no grounds for them to pay you anything unless they feel a goodwill gesture is worth it.
Like the other advisers, I have suffered long drives only to find the person isnt in and it is fustrating. I can only recall a couple of times I didnt turn up for an appointment. Once because I couldnt find the place and was driving round for about 30 minutes after the start time looking for the house and the person wasnt answering their phone. The other because I refused to deal with the person as they had been extremely rude on a past occassion to one of my staff and I didnt want to go to their house.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0
