Help needed with Tesco ecoupon problem

Sorry to post this again but the first attempt got lost at the end of a long thread and I don't think anyone read it!
Hi can anyone advise me. My last two ecoupons have been refused because of out of stock items making the total fall below the required amount. The first time I rang customer services who were very unhelpful and said that this was clearly explained on the website - which I can't see anywhere!! I did however get some joy emailing them and they credited me the £10 as a 'goodwill gesture'.
This week I tried using the £15 off £100 coupon and put in an order with a guide total of £107. Because of out of stock items the sub-total fell to £93 and the coupon was refused. I tried emailing customer services but no joy :
Thank you for your email.
I have investigated this matter for you and can confirm that your e-coupon was rejected because the final total of the charged order did not meet the minimum spend to qualify for usage.Unfortunately, I am unable to refund this for you.
The voucher has been re-issued to you for future use.
Anyone out there got any ideas on whether this can be successfully fought? Otherwise you have no idea on whether a coupon will work or not because you've no idea what might or might not be in stock.

In these situations the best course of action is to refuse delivery when the driver brings it over. The second option is to call CS and ask them to arrange return and refund of the items. This should bring back their "goodwill".0

I have often, actually nearly every week, spent more on my shopping than I actually pay when the groceries ae delivered and I have never had a problem with tesco's using the vouvhers.
My problems are usually that the website ignores my banked vouchers until they are out of date!!
No help to you RevSteve, but I have found in the past if you phone Tesco and explain they will give you the voucher money off. If that fails, I agree with mm66.Named after my cat, picture coming shortly0 -
I never really have a prob with the vouchers. I have shopped religiously at least once a week for 3 years and always had a coupon for at least the delivery. In the last year I have had a plentiful supply of £10 & £15 coupons. The only thing that annoys me is that the online offers are fewer than the instore ones, which has not always been the case i.e. if its on offer instore you'd expect it to be online. It pays to challenge0

I think if you go for the BOGOF offers then it counts twice in the total spend, before the reduction is applied. For example two items on BOGOF at say £3 counts as £6 worth of spend. This can help bump up the total without bumping up how much you end up paying, so worth making sure you look at the special offers closely.

Thanks for everyone's help. I did get my money back by reading the terms and conditions for eCoupons (section 7) :
If we refuse an eCoupon submitted as part of an order, for any reason, we will inform you before the order is dispatched to advise of the correct cost of the order and give you the opportunity to cancel the order.
Suggest you use this if you have the same problem.0 -
to ensure you get the money off,
add high priced extra items in.( john frieda shampoo/conditioner etc)
When they deliver, say , Oops, that was an error, can you take it back for a refund please.
Another thing, when you send them back, after a week if you do not hear that they have refunded your card, email them to confirm if the refund of the items you sent back last week went on the card.
As the department is run by a manager ( normally that has to run checkouts as well) the refunds are done by Pickers , who work part time.So you may be lucky and get it refunded twice.( as i did)0 -

That's excellent advice!
I'm having a fight with Tesco's at the moment over my last order. It sank 63p below the voucher level so I lost a £15 discount. They also turned up 45 mins late, and delivered some cider in the wrong size (12 2ltr bottles instead of 3ltr). I've rung them three times to get the bottle size problem sorted, and I'm still waiting for the home shopping manager to get back to me. I've had the delivery cost refunded due to the lateness of the order, but they refused to give me the voucher discount.
I only use the online ordering to take advantage of the discount codes, but they're taking the mickey on this order!0
