Suppliers For Making Own Wedding Invites

I have been asked by my friend if I would make her wedding invitations for her, which I'm delighted to do.
However, it's been a few years since I've been at a wedding and I'd like to make them for her. She wants their photograph on the front of them and I thought of a simple embellishment or a nice ribbon somewhere on it (her colour scheme is burgundy and ivory). So can someone please recommend me somewhere to get my paper and envelopes from and also any embellisments, that sort of thing?
Thankyou!

Hi,
I usually get my paper and card from the paper mill as you can get an A4 box full for about £6. The last time I stocked up it was 2 boxes for £10.
Ribbon I get off my local market or sometimes eBay depending on what I'm looking for.
As far as embellishments etc. go it really depends what you are wanting so would suggest shopping around. I have recently been getting rubber stamps sent over from the States as craft items seem to be far cheaper over there especially with the exchange rate and their postage rates are often cheaper than ours as well.
Just before Xmas I managed to get £50 worth of Hero Arts stamps sent from America for £25 including shipping.
Hope that helps but if I can help any further - let me know.Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

I got cards and envelopes (C6 size) from Handy Hippo, good quality and reasonably priced. I found some tiny (89mm square) cards for thank you's from Sparkle Dreams, very good website, and the kind site owner even tracked down some insert papers for these as a special order! Wedding-crafts.co.uk were good for crystals for embellishments and ribbon.
Just a case of deciding what you want, really, which is what I find to be the difficult part!!:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

Thanks ladies!
Paddington - what's on the stamps, is it a personal message or something like that?
I seen a really nice idea this afternoon and can't find it again now, even though I thought I had added it to my favourites - doh!
It was a card that folded into the middle and had a red ribbon round it. The ribbon was threaded through a lovely little pearl heart in the middle and it looked really sweet.
Can I find it again, can I heck! lol
I did find some pearl hearts but they didn't have a line down the middle of them for the ribbon to thread through. - hmmm

Thanks for posting this, by the way. I'm planning on making our invites and am just throwing together ideas at the minute. I'm hoping we'll work out what we want in the next few weeks and then I can look for supplies... so this was good timing!0

Hi the stamps I last ordered were normal hero arts ones. 1 said life is short do what you love the other was sending hugs along the way with hopes to bring a cheery day.
I have ordered stamps from one ebay shop who asked me what font and size I wanted and then sent me a proof. I got set of unmounted save the date, invitation and thank you in a celtic font for about £4.
were the hearts buttons as if not you could possibly get sizzix hearts in pearlescent card and then punch the ribbon slot in them. similar to this one http://www.docrafts.co.uk/gallery/default.aspx?pg=l&gid=293504&pageNo=1
there are loads of ideas on this site but to view the whole gallery you do have to join.Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended
