You don't need any of those AFAIK and if you do, it's the responsibility of your employer to provide them.
  • But what if they provide a vest thats been umm used for the purpose its there for but not been replaced or.. I dont know how they work.

    But thank you for replying

PPE must be supplied free of charge and it must be fit for purpose....it's the law.

For footwear, consider one of the Magnum boots. They're ligh, supportive and easy on the feet...http://global.magnumboots.com/en/products/boots they conform to EN347-1 and EN345-1 standards,

I'd have thought this would have been covered on the course.
    What to wear at least.

Ask to see the company's Risk Assessment, see if there are any clues in there.
  • Thanks for the replys

I took the course myself and paid for myself so no company.

The course did not cover this kind of thing ( not good I know and not having dont this before I didn`t know what kind of extra questions to ask )

The course is purely it would seem to enable you to apply for SIA licence. Not to actually prepare you fully for what you will need once you actually start the job.

( I may have this wrong but it seems to be a common place thought amongs DS )

Will look at the footwear thank you.

Hi, my partner is a bouncer (or door supervisor and they are now called) he has done his SIA training and has his badge.

He wears normal boots (his have steel toe caps) infact he has just bought a pair from MandMDirect and he purchases his torches from ebay - just a normal LED torch - the torch is mainly for iding people, searching (in some nightclubs etc) and also checking that the person has been stamped if they have gone outside for any reason so they do not have to re-pay.

As for the stab vests, they dont use them but if they needed them then the employer will supply them
