Geoffrey Parker Bourne solicitors???

Hi, Hope this is in the right place.I have had a call from the solicitors firm above who i have never heard of before. They left a message on my parents home phone and left a reference number asking me to get in touch with them.

I called them back and they asked me to confirm my address but as i had not recieved anything from them in writing, i refused to give them my address so they told me that they could not discuss the matter any further as it was a financial matter.

I am worried as i do not have anything outstanding but they would not tell me anything. I asked them to put to me in writing what it was concerning. They told me that they had already written to me last November but i have not recieved anything fom them?

Has anyone heard of them or know what they deal with please?

The number they left me to call them back on was a Nottingham number and there is a web site for them which i found but no details apart from the names of the people that work there.

I would appreciate ANY advice.

Could it be mistaken identity? I havent lived at my parents for the last 7 years and have had a mortgage for 3 and i dont have any outstanding debts that i know of but am really worried about this.

Thanks.

Do not give them any personal details. Ask them which address they wrote to you at in November...you can at least find out whether or not it might be mistake identity if you have never lived there.

If it's that important - financial or not - they will tell you over the phone, or agree for you to go and see them at their office.

But you were right not to give your address out. :)

I personally would call them back, insist on them telling you on the phone. If they refuse, ask them to write to your solicitor about the issue, and go to see your solicitor to get the message.

(Just seen Milla's post about them being a reputable solicitor...they may well be which is great, and the reason they should tell you which address they wrote to before. It may be *your* address and the letter just got lost in the post. If they have your address I would confirm it and get the letter re-sent. However, I would still be wary unless you know for sure that the person calling was actually from the solicitors themselves; could be anyone pretending, you just don't know.)

    HTH :)

This sounds like the sort of thing that some DCAs do when they are trying to trace somebody. I'd say you should ignore them.

I have just had a letter from these people asking me to pay the sum of £57.10 for Orange PCS Ltd.
I have never had an orange account so don't know what this is.
Ithink I will need to write back with the letter asking for credit agreement details for this.
Also, the letter head has a picture on it which looks like a noose to round your neck, nice eh!!
  • hiya ppl. when u call gpb company they will ask you for your addresses & date of bith for security, they need to confrim details of who they are speaking to. its called DPA. as if they discuss the account, it could be with somone else, so they need to confrim, as they would be breaking the law by calling you & just going into details about why there calling.
its like when your bank call you, they ask you to confrim security questions first before the discuss the account. Its security.

GPB are not professional in anyway. Have a close look at consumer forums to see some of the tricks they play to try and get what they want.

I would treat GPB with the same disgust as the likes of Moorcroft/Wescott/1st Credit etc.
