Yes - better to give an estimate than be late. I had to do this once and supplied the real figures a little while later, and they accepted that fine.

I stayed up all night, willing myself to go on .. and on. Telling myself I was earning £100 for doing this.

Ran it down the Post Office for a "guaranteed tomorrow" delivery just 3 hours ago,

GOt back and nodded off. Now I feel wrecked. Why oh why oh why oh why ... do I leave it until the last minute every year? If I hadn't moved, I'd have been shoving it through their letterbox at midnight tomorrow like usual.

It really is worth doing the online version if you can, as it just presents you with the bits that are relevant to you, and there is no need to post it. I am normally terrible with mine but this time I was so determined to be organised I did it in a couple of hours - it might be worth setting up a folder to make it easier while the pain is still fresh in your mind!

I've thought about that. But you have to apply ahead of time and wait for your activation PIN.

Which means you don't as it's too late ... and repeat that the following year.

I have been thinking I should do it this time though as next year I think I have some more sections to fill in.

And the time isn't in doing the form. The form takes just 3 minutes. The time is in getting all the information together in one place and checked.
  • ok do you know if you dont owe any tax you do not pay the fine. Also i think if it is a couple of days late you dont get fined!
