Blonde to brown hair HELP!!!!

A few weeks ago I had an itch I just had to scratch. I wanted to be blonde (used to be many years ago) so I had half a head but lots of high lights put in.
I have now decided that I should stick to my roots and go back to my medium/dark brown.
Now I know I know that I should go to a hairdresser, BUT if I were to do it myself had anyone any advice.
I know that the blonde now needs to go red before brown. But is there a dye on the market that could take me straight to brown, one that had red tones in it rather than the green/blue found in some browns.
I dont want to put any more peroxide in, so no other shades of blonde. Some of my hair is still my natural colour and I dont want to damage it more than I have done already.
Any advice?????

Ive done that a few times too! Khaki is not a good look.:rotfl:
After reading about it on the net theres mixed ideas. I am thinking of going for a dark brown, rather than medium. Perhaps something with a slight red in it. Mahogony or something.0 -
