Today, I have been off work helping out a friend who's in a bit of a mess, and told her about how supportive this forum was. We were looking through various threads, looking for similar situations to hers (its her story not mine so can't tell you about it) and wandered onto some other boards. Most were just as supportive and helpful, there are some really good people out there. But, once or twice, came across people who were in mortgage difficulties, and were castigated for it. The attitude that you shouldn't take out a mortgage if you can't pay it. I know that sometimes we need tough love, but basically being told 'can't pay, don't stay' is not helpful.
So, we wandered back over here and looked at some of the really supportive threads that are going on. I just wanted to say thanks for being a supportive crowd.:T
P.S my friend will be back here with her saga when she feels ready.

I agree Gillian,
My forays onto other boards have never been as nice as this one...
This lot are the BEST EVER!!!!!Empty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0 -
I'm actually debt free now and trying to build up some savings but I've popped onto the other boards and don't feel as comfortable there as I do here.
I find some of the comments and answers can be quite harsh.0 -
Must admit i have ventured out and about and my God  There are some arguments to be had out there.
Good if you are feeling a bit devilish one night though

I always found the old style forum friendly as well
I haven't really seen ventured onto the other forums much apart from the freebie one. :money:
Really I should be on the Mortgage free site but I I found here first and just stayed. :dance:0 -
I quite often go onto the credit card board and housing boards, as people who need help with debts/etc also post on there...they do not get the welcome they get from the DFW crowd, some people are just plain horrid and surprisingly some of the financial advisors aren't sympathetic either (i will not name and shame, cause I'll get my hands slapped).
If I find people over there wanting advice or help, I point them in this direction.

i went over to the discussion board the other night, got insulted by 2 self rightious idiots (I'd call them worse but there are ladies present) and came back here. They are a bunch of sanctimonious arrogant pompous... well, you get the picture!
I do venture on the old style forum, as it's quite friendly over there too.I am one of the 63336.'It is better to have lived one day as a tiger than a thousand years as a sheep.'

I really like the DT board, it makes me laugh, but not the place to be if you're feeling vulnerable or sensitive, I agree!
Some of the other boards are a bit sharp in their advice, so again, not the best if you need support, even though the points being made are sometimes valid ones...
DFW is the most welcoming and supportive, I think, closely followed by OS.
That's what's so good about these boards, though, there's something for everyone, and something different for every mood.
I spent about a half an hour laughing last night at the lolcats thread, for example, just what I needed at the time. The other day, I got great help on the Techie board from some people who knew what they were talking about, and I've also had great support on the Marriages, Relationships and Family board.
I find I always check in here again, though, because everyone is so nice and helpful :T (and I love to keep track of the diaries - am learning lots from everyone too).I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.
