I use shoe polish on the heel as well as the boot. This seems to work for me.

If you have long legs and wear a short skirt, who is going to notice any scuff marks on the heels of your boots? :p:D

The shoe repair shop can restore the paint on heels.

Might be worth keeping a pair of shoes in the car for driving though. The paint will just wear off again and heeled boots don't sound the best footwear to be driving in anyway, if you're leaning back on the heels rather than being able to put your foot properly on the pedals.

  • Talking of smartening up heels, what's the best price you've got for getting boot heels redone and where was it? I need to get a couple of pairs done and I remember from last year that it was eye-wateringly expensive!
  • Dylon do shoe dye in a wide range of colours and the results are foolproof and would certainly cover the scuff marks on your heels. You can buy it online or places like Robert Dyas or John Lewis usually sell it.

  • I used to get my heel tips stilletto heel tips from ebay. They cost just under two pounds each and are really easy to replace yourself with the aid of some pliers. Saved me a fortune over the years :j

I've wrapped black electrical tape around heels in the past. They were the type with a sort of faux-wood grain anyway so the ridges of the tape didn't look wrong.
  • I took my boots/shoes into the menders for new soles and heels and they came out looking like new. When asked how they covered the heel where it had worn away from driving, they told me they used the spray cans of paint for cars (Halford was next door at the time). I've used it ever since, it works a treat.
  • I keep an old pair of trainers in the car for driving, with laces tucked down the front so as to just slip them on. And tend to wear slip-on shoes/boots anyway, so I can get out of them easily to change (also I have best control when wearing trainers, and can't drive well in anything else!)
