I got the code to work last night at about 2am. Took like 4 or 5 tries but if you keep at it it should work out before the end of the day.

I had ordered the Harry Potter book through Tesco online the day before receiving the email with the free delivery offer.

The online service was telling me I couldn't cancel any book orders due to a technical difficulty...yeah right! I phoned customer services and told them I wanted free delivery and that it was unfair to offer free delivery only to a select few who ordered from a certain date.

They told me I couldn't cancel the order as my book had been allocated. I told them they needed to unallocate it immediately or I would be taking the matter further...not sure where, but I didn't tell them that!

The dutifully unallocated my order, and I went back into Tesco.com to reorder with free delivery.

I think Tesco are out of order with this one, either discount delivery for all or none.

i see your point, but thats almost like saying if (for example) if cd-wow are going to give j bloggs a 50p discount, then i should have one too?

isnt that the point of vouchers etc...?

it sucks hugely that they tried to stop you cancelling your order, just because you had a new code, thats out of order...

apologies if any offense caused as certainly none at all intended.... :-)

Yeah I've got it on my order details. The confirmation email makes no reference to it. As far as I'm concerned if the book doesn't turn up on time, give or take a couple days to allow for snail mail, it's going back for a full refund. The delivery date on release day on this occasion forms part of the contract as has been integral to their advertising. If it doesn't turn up on time its breach of contract. Although I don't know what the 14 Aug 2005 means, the date was introduced AFTER purchase, so cannot be relied upon as part of the contract. I've printed off a copy of the terms and conditions for the book and the advertising on the site just in case. Seems daft for a book costing less than a tenner!

No quite sure happened, I checked back and the site had changed a little and it stated the use of the HPDELIVERY code was extended until Wed 13th, so managed to order it.

If it doesn't turn up i'm off down to my local Asda!

Now all I have to do is rea the last HP book, supposed to be a good one too, bought it when it came out and somehow havent touched it lol. 2 HP books in a row, can't wait.
