I reckon you could probably get rid of that Tesco card before April, don't you? Just from the takeaway money saved for two months that's one gone! :)

  • Thank you for all your helpful replies. I really am most grateful

I feel stupid that it has come to this where I just haven't been bothered to sort it out and really have just buried my head in the sand.

It's hard trying to sort out the kids, work, hubby and the finances, sometimes it gets a bit much.

But I am determined to get control back and get things sorted. I have made notes on all your advice and I will get working on my list of things to do - I am starting with the food cupboard!

Thanks again, I will keep in touch x

tiger123, remember to do baby steps, over wise you will feel overwhelmed by it all, and has you already mentioned kids, works, home, OH, finances etc, you have alot on your plate already.

Do keep us posted, maybe even start a debt diary, it can keep you motivated, my other suggestion would be is start a spending diary, every penny adds up and before you know the pound in your purse has gone, it can work wonders to see where you are spending.

  • Hi Tiger,

Welcome to the one place that is always guaranteed to tell you the truth and keep you on track.

As everyone has said, the nice things have to go, it's rubbish, but you soon get used to it and in the end don't really miss it. Like Sky, I used to just watch it for the sake of it, and we only really had it for Sky Sports!!!! Get Freeview, plenty on there to keep the kids occupied.

Takeaways, yummy, wish I lived at yours :) Try just cutting it down to once a month, then it's more of a treat and you'll look forward to it.

Pet Insurance, my friend opened a bank account for her cats and put a little aside each month to cover any vets bills that might come up, unless you have pedigree cats I'm not sure it's worth it.

Food, there are so many great deals and offers in all the supermarkets, just need to shop around, and go on your own, saves any little people putting stuff in.

Oh, and the clothes, I know your weakness, but hey, we can only wear so much.

You'll be sorted soon enough, especially with all these brill' people on here!!
