Sounds like you are having a lovely day all round Sar.

I've applied for 2 jobs at an agency. They are quite basic admin posts so they might wonder why i've gone for them, but I've asked them to add my CV to their database and given them the kind of spec. I'm looking for in a job.

I'm sick of bloomin job hunting myself. Feel rotten because I won't just take any old job that comes along. I want to make sure that uts the right one and that the money is worth it. Its like this job i'm doing today was offered to me as a temp job but it just wasn't worth getting paid for it as it would affect my benefits so I just said I would do it voluntarily for the experience and the reference.I cant get smilies or spaces to appear in my posts whats wrong with this computer???

That's part of the problem for me Laura. I'm applying for pants pay jobs but it's either that or nothing, although I am setting myself a 'minimum' that I'd apply for - eg there is a 30 hour admin job I saw 13k pro rata, not even £800 a month after tax and it's almost full time :( The salaries in Poole are awful. I look through the Job Centre online and the paper on a Thursday and £6.50 per hour is about as good as it gets!!!

I do need something to sit alongside AQA though as it is very quiet again and I am getting a bit bored of sitting here 7 days a week but it just isn't worth it doing something at that level of pay once I've taken off petrol, insurance (I'm on PAYG car insurance) tax and NI.

Other than the £70 from the OH towards the food at the beginning of the month (which I use VERY creatively at Asda online!!!) it's all down to me. If my mortgage were even a quarter smaller it would be a huge difference but sadly that's another one of the problems of living here - house prices

You see thats the problem. It wouldn't be worth working that for me. I know I shouldn't say this on the public forum but it really doesn't make sense for me to go back to work for anything less than at least £15500 a year. And thats if I'm working locally where I wouldn't have to pay much petrol.

Oh, I agree. To pay my mortgage, utilities and car insurance etc, I need £18k per year. After tax and NI that would give me £200 a month for groceries, petrol car tax, christmas etc etc etc. Not a lot to ask surely!! AQA isn't giving me anything near that which is why I need to look to earn extra bits and pieces to put away for my next tax bill.

I don't want to work away though (did that for a year in 98/99 in Dublin) so that's my choice I guess.

Good grief, I just got a scare. I could hear a noise as I was typing and looked out of the window and the police helicopter was over the school playing field near me, just hovering like a big angry fly. As I'm a lot higher up than the school it was almost outside the window - scared the living daylights out of me!!!! It's scooted off now, wonder what was going on.

God, I look back to how much I earned jointly with my ex but we were up to our eyes in debt through a mixture of sheer stupidity, lack of LBM and not knowing how to solve the situation (years before MSE came along) . At one time we were earning over 40k between us and we STILL never seemed to have any money!

I see what you mean. I always thought that I was quite mature for my age which I think I am but i've only just really grown up when it comes to dealing with my finances. Its quite embarrasing really!
