Writing a will

Not sure if this is the right part of the forum to post this or not, but here goes...
Does anyone know a cost-effective but legit way to write a will? We have a straightforward family set up so don't feel we need to pay solicitors costs if we can avoid it. However, we obviously want it to be legally sound. Any advice/ideas?
Thanks!

WH Smith and similar stationers do 'diy will packs' that should be OK for a simple will.Retired in 2015.
