Tax Code Query

Hi everyone,

The company that I work for has undergone a couple of mergers. Consequently, my tax code got messed up and has been at BR1 for a number of months. I earn just under £40K p/a, so I don't think this is right.

I imagine I need to contact HMRC to rectify this ? My question is, do they owe me...or do I owe them ?

I have been putting this off and off, but must sort it out !

Cheers,

D.

if you have only one job and have no benefits in kind and no other special circumstances then your tax code should 522L.

In this case they will owe you tax back
