have floor length curtains in house and stupidly the radiators are infront on the windows so put the curtains up on the window ledge so the house heats up, the problem is the windows get damp in the night and so do the bottoms of the curtains, and now they are covered in mold spots.
i did a search and it sugested sponging on a mild bleach solution-going to sound thick but is this just bleach and water? how many parts bleach to water? is domestos ok?-told you i would sound stupid!!!
want to clean them in the morning so they have some hope of being drying by night so i can iron (sorry for swearing!!!) and hang them again, should i wash them on the anti bactiarial wash? sorry for so many stupid questions.
if all else fails maybe i could cut them down to window ledge height as that would get rid of the mold but i do like them being floor length

I think I would use a powdered bleach that is colour fast. Do you have any of that?
What colour is the curtains?Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
I have had this problem on a rug and used a special mold and mildew remover from a DIY store to clean it and prevent it reoccurring. Can't remember the name though, sorry.0

Maybe in the future drop the curtains down to full length when you go to bed? Residual heat will be held in overnight, and presumably the heating will be off so not loosing any, and then open curtains in morning and wipe down worst of condensation (those real or fake chamois cloths are good for this) before opening a window for airing. (I have to do a similar routine - can you tell ?!)0

thank you for your help, will have a trip to tesco later to see if i can see your product aussielass, seakay i used to have that routine but housemate goes to bed after me and never puts the curtains back on the floor nor is he helping wash them-do i have mug written on my face? if i am not home he doesn't put them on the window ledge and wonders why the house isn;t getting warm!! weather awfull today so hopefully will wash them tomorrow weather dependant, the stupid things can not be put in the tumble dryer either.0

To prevent them getting moldy again in the future perhaps you could sew a few loops along the bottom of the curtains at the back and sew some hooks half way up the back. That way you could fold the curtains to window ledge height, hook them up out of the way and not worry about them getting wet from the condensation without having to worry about being able to sew!0

I was wondering if Mold curtains were different to Liverpool curtains ( assumption as you got them from TJ's) ! Sorry American spellings are commonplace now, I suppose.0
