Small Business Startup - Bank A/c? - Loan?
Couldn't find anywhere else for Business Startup, so here goes.
I have recently returned from 12 years running a business in France, and plan to start a small business in the UK for purchasers in France who want consultancy/project management for house refurbishments. My startup costs are mainly for advertising and travelling etc, and I have the cash needed for that. However, I would be interested to find a deal with a bank for a business a/c plus £5000 overdraft facility at little or no cost, which would allow me to invest my own money elsewhere.
I can show a permanent UK address for only 1 year. I have 2 UK based credit cards (zero balance) plus a LloydsTSB current a/c.
Any ideas guys?

We have a business account with HSBC which gave us £3K borrowing for the first year without securing it against the house or anything, plus free banking for a year. AFter a few initial teething troubles we find their service fine, although the telephone banking is based in India they have always been helpful. The internet banking is fab. I don't suppose they are the cheapest but for the number of cheques going in and out of our account they were practical. I have no idea how long you would have to be at your address, but maybe your business experience in France if you show your accounts would be helpful.0
