Pop ups

in Techie Stuff
Please can somebody help me, have just had to close 52 pop up messages, I am not techie so have no idea what to do. This has only started happening since I got broadband (NTL). I have looked through 78 pages in this forum and I have not found the thread. Please accept my apologies for my inpatience.

oh dear you have a very bad infection.
as you aren't techie I'd be finding someone who is who knows how to install & use the various anti-spyware/trojans/viruses programs0 -

get pop up stopper free edition
easy to turn on and off get it from here

Internet Explorer 6 with SP2 has pop-up blocker built-in and doesn't do that bad a job. Would save installing extra software, etc.0

sometimes these pop-ups come from Windows Messenger, again Service pack 2 turns this off for you
if you want to upgrade to SP2 it is on the front of one of the computer mags this month , was also available in PC world for free at one point
May be worth downloading the free Microsoft Antispyware from

You could trying using Firefox instead Explorer! It is a very good browser.The quicker you fall behind, the longer you have to catch up...0
