We are going to Venice for the weekend in about 3 weeks and everyone is expecting us to get engaged while we're there. So we have decided to try and get married instead while we're there! - does anyone have experience of how difficult this would be to organise, how much it would cost, etc. I don't know whether we would need to be resident for so many days before a ceremony so it may be impossible anyway. We have obviously got the hotel and flights sorted, and it would be just the 2 of us - so just a ceremony probably. Where do I start looking for info?

            Hi,
wow what a great idea:-) id probally start by heading to your local travel agent to find out what companys do wedding packages, pick what you want and then ring round other agents to see who can get you the best price. They will also be able to tell you about timescales etc. for all the formal wedding stuff. Good luck!!0

Someone I know is planning his wedding in Italy and it is turning into a very complicated affair, though this is partly because it's going to be a religious ceremony. Italians are hardly "light-touch" when it comes to bureaucracy!
 There's some info on here:

But if you do find a way around it all, let me know as I recently got engaged in Venice and would happily elope there for the wedding to avoid all the stress that our families are causing! The venue for civil weddings (Palazzo Cavalli) in Venice is absolutely gorgeous.3-6 Month Emergency Fund #14: £9000 / £10,0000

I think thats why I like the idea so much, just can't bear the prospect of having to organise something that would keep both our large families happy, it makes perfect sense to just go and do it and then have a big party for everyone when we get back. But as I'm getting so into the idea, I'll probably find that its impossible to organise in the time I've got!0
