I'm having a nightmare finding this out - does a british passport holder need a visa for a holiday in HK?

I went for 3 days after a trip to China, they stamp your passport and I think as a British citizen the stamp says you are allowed to stay for 180 daysfinally debt free and want to keep it that way!!0

Not if you're going for less than 180 days, according to this:

You need a visa for China but not got HK, we went last year and because our holiday included a trip to HK and them back into China on the way home we had to get a double entry visa which was a lot more expensive.
If you decide to do a trip into China from HK the tour companies can fix up the visa pretty quickly I understand, have a good trip it's a fabulous city.0 -
you dont need one if you are a british passport holder and are in HK for less than 180 days
your passport must have more than 6 months remaining before expiry date0 -

no visa is required i had to get a double entry visa for china in 2005 and it was only about £40 from the chinese embassy in london you do have to get there by 10 or 11 in the morning to be seen then you come and collect them a week later its if ya in hong kong and have enough time its worth going into china for a visit0
